Alice in Wonderland on Social Media

Google Buzz

Alice in Wonderland – this highly anticipated movie by Tim Burton, most of you must have seen the posters by now.
I noticed something interesting about the URL they chose to advertise… seems like a new concept.

Think about it – Why did the marketer in Disney decide to use a Facebook group instead of an official domain?

Squidoo

Squidoo, founded by Seth Godin (yes, I’m a believer!) If you haven’t heard of it (what?!) – time to educate yourself. To save myself of the trouble of attempting to describe what Squidoo does, just read it here. but point of clarification – it’s not the next Wiki.

My very first lens on Social Media. I definitely won’t claim to be an expert at this (because I jolly well know I am not!), this lens serves as a learning guide for myself as I share my knowledge and reflections with others who might be interested to find out.
What I’m struggling with is maintaining the rankings though; I’m competing with a pool of 900,000 other lenses on Squidoo! It will only get more challenging in the future.

Go get your lens now, there are tons of tips on how to do it.

Something to think about…
Making efforts to change my life, for the better, a step at a time. :) Little changes that will make a big difference in the long run.

Yes I need to cut down on my facebook apps.

Seth Godin

Google Buzz

Recently I’ve been busy reading up on marketing, just for exposure.
A week ago, I was being referred to Seth Godin’s books upon reading “The Starbucks Experience” and have found his writings interesting. The one I just finished is “Purple Cow: Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable”, can’t wait to start on the others.

(Admit it, the banner on the right looks so clickable- nice colour, great design.)
His blog entry about Personal Branding in the age of Google really cracked me up. Nothing escapes Google, that’s only one of the reasons why it’s the best search engine. I’m the kind of person who googles everything I need to know, predictably, I’m definitely guilty of googling my own name– and so far it’s been a good record. (thank God!) Sidetracking… my surname’s a common one to begin with, Chen, and my name isn’t very much unique either. Not many people know of my middle name, so it’s almost pretty much redundant.

Have you googled yourself yet?
If not, it’s high time you do so now!
